- Evaluation Jerseys & Evaluations
NEW - Due to a large competitive tryout group, six of the eight kits are already used and there are not enough left over for distribution this week - with 90 skaters, I will need at least 5 kits. I will be getting these jerseys back throughout the week and will announce a time over Thanksgiving, and the week after (possibly at eval games), to pickup an evaluation jersey.
The target remains to have Evaluations from the 14th to the 19th, practices from the 20th to 23rd, Exhibition games on the 24-26th and then the League starts on Nov. 1st.
- Coaches Needed
We have three (3) coaches registered to be a 'Head' coach. I am looking for three (3) more as we are now on-pace for six (6) teams. For more info on being a coach, visit the FYHA Coaching Page
- Zone A (Edmundston to Grand Lake) U18 C League
The Zone A meetings are Wednesday, where the three (3) Districts will meet along with Minor Hockey Council and one of the items on the agenda is the amalgamation of the U18 league across the entire Zone. This would mean teams in the Fredericton area would have to play teams in Edmundston and Grand-Falls, and vice versa. I will send an email to parents with the final decision and how that decision impacts FYHA teams on Thursday morning (Oct. 9th).

The NBU18CMHL season starts on Fri. Oct. 24th (this was made very clear by the league). This provides us only 3 weeks to develop a team. To have an embargo over Thanksgiving, we must start on the first available weekend. It's unfortunate that some of our sessions overlap with the three High Schools but that's the reality of having four different organizations working separate schedules wanting the same evenings for the same aged kids. You are welcome to ask for an accommodation and I will try my best to support it. It is not possible to wait for High School to finish with their selections - we have to run in parrallel to meet our obligatons as memeber of the league to have two teams ready for the 24th. We will try our best to provide as much flexability and acoomidation to all candiates.

The U18A/B team will no longer be the "Blues". Starting this season, they will be the "Capitals" and their St. Louis colours changed over to the Washington Capitals colours (Navy/White/Red). UCT will remain the title sponsor. |
- 2025-26 FYHA Competitive Affiliation Program
The FYHA has adopted a new development model this year where all competitive teams will be required to affiliate at least three (3) players, to a max of five, and those players will be expected to participate in all practices (where possible) with the affiliated team. There is a fee of $100 for each affiliated player that chooses to participate.
- FYHA U18 Competitive Provincials Host

CONFIRMED!!!
The FYHA will be hosting the U18 Competitive Provincial Tournament (all three levels; AA, A & B) in late March at the Willie O'Ree Place with overflow games at the York Arena. The official announcement was made on Saturday, at the NBU18CHL's AGM, by league Preseident, Tim White. The FYHA teams (Lions and Capitals) will automatically be an entry in their respective Divisions.

Note: I am a Level 3 On-Ice Official, but due to being the U18 Coordinator this season, I will only be officiating U18 games on an emergency bases. This restriction also applies to any and all U18 games in the Zone and the FYHA U18 Comp Tournament in November. The one exception will likely be the FYHA Capital Inv. where we need all officials to be available and I will only work games where FYHA teams are not playing (if avoidable). I have no children in Minor Hockey - I completed six seasons of assigning on-ice officials in the Fredericton area in 2023-24 and have chosen to step back from that role - I continue to working in other areas of officiating (Instruction, Supervisions & Mentoring).
