Competitive (A-B/AA) -------------------------------------------

- Overview -
Competitive teams are currently in the 'ranking season' and continue to play games against other random opponents to assess where they should be placed for the 'competitive season' which begins in mid-December.

Recreation (C) ------------------------------------------------------

- March Madness -

We are now into March and the last of month of hockey (ending Sunday March 30th). There are a few games left for each group and then best-of-3s to close-out the season. The top two teams in Group A and B are playing for banners while everyone else gets taste of 'best of 3' hockey.

Graduate Party

I am looking for ideas for those who are graduating (17 year-olds in their last season) for a year-end event. This is an annual FYHA event. I was thinking of a pizza and bowling event at Kingswood, but I am open to other ideas (sorry - no axe throwing).

- Tiering-

The A Group is - FYHA Canadiens, FYHA Flyers, FYHA Blue Jackets plus Tri-County, Oromocto Yeti and Grand Lake
The B Group is - FYHA Rangers, FYHA Panthers plus York West, Oromocto HC, Keswick, Stanley and Doaktown

Group A - Only the Flyers have completed their 10 games. Everyone else is 2-3 away. Once the District coordinator returns from Spring Break, I will see if we will finish off those remaining games or use the standings we have now to pair-off and begin the best of 3 series.

Group B - Only Keswick have completed their 12 games. Everyone else is 3-4 away. I would like to play one more weekend (of two games each) to get everyone to 10-11 then pair-off. I will see if this is possible when the District coordinator returns from Spring Break.

Zones

Zones are being played this weekend, March 7-8-9 in Tri-County with one team from District 1 (Edmundston/Grand Falls area), District 2 (Woodstock area), Grand Lake (as the District 3 representative) and Tri-County (as host). Two of the four teams will advance to Provincials in Lewisville. Grand Lake were 8-0 at the time a decision had to be  make and Tri-County was second, by making Tri-County the host - there is no real argument to be made for not sending Grand Lake as the District 3 representative.

- Practice Sessions -

I have reached out to the coaches for any interest for Sunday March 9th 7:45@York

2024-25 U18 Division Coordinator - Eric Drummie - fyhaU18Div@gmail.com
Note: I am a Level 3 On-Ice Official, but due to being the U18 Coordinator this season, I will only be officiating U18 games on an emergency bases and even then, it will only be as a Linesperson (never as the Referee). This restriction also applies to any and all U18 games in the Zone and the FYHA U18 Comp Tournament in November. The one exception will likely be the FYHA Capital Inv. where we need all officials to be available and I will only work games where FYHA teams are not playing. I have no children in Minor Hockey - I completed six seasons of assigning on-ice officials in the Fredericton area and have chosen to step back from that role - this season I am working in other areas of officiating (Instruction & Mentoring) as well as taking-on this role as the U18 Coordinator.
