Competitive (A-B/AA) - Recreational (C) is at the bottom

- Overview -
There will only be two(2) Competitive teams this season; AA (Lions) and A/B (Blues).

- NBCMHL / NBU18CHL, has outlined that associations with two(2) teams, like FYHA, will designate the first team "AA" and the second as "B" and will play 8-10 'Ranking Games' versus same-rank teams to start the season. After these games are completed, each team will be formally ranked as "AA", "A" or "B" based on their results and each team's advice. After the ranking, teams will only compete against similarly ranked teams for the remainder of the season (the number of games played will be determined by the number of teams at each ranked level).

Recreation (C) ------------------------------------------------------

- Overview -
The U18C season will involve playing in the District 3 U18C league again this season. Prior to COVID, FYHA had enough U18 teams to play entirely within a local city league, but due to the drop in numbers post COVID, the FYHA merged with the District to provide more opponents. This merger agreement will continue again this season.

The HNB Minor Hockey Council has asked District 3 (Fredericton and surrounding areas) to consider incorporating Woodstock, Grand Falls and Edmundston into our season but not necessarily as members of the league (not part of our playoffs). The proposal is each (or most) teams would travel north once in a season to play a double-header against two of the three teams. Coaches are to poll their parents and I will assembly each team's response.

Note: I am a Level 3 On-Ice Official, but due to being the U18 Coordinator this season, I will only be officiating U18 games on an emergency bases and even then, it will only be as a Linesperson (never as the Referee). This restriction also applies to any and all U18 games in the Zone and the FYHA U18 Comp Tournament in November. The one exception will likely be the FYHA Capital Inv. where we need all officials to be available and I will only work games where FYHA teams are not playing. I have no children in Minor Hockey - I completed six seasons of assigning on-ice officials in the Fredericton area and have chosen to step back from that role - this season I am working in other areas of officiating (Instruction & Mentoring) as well as taking-on this role as the U18 Coordinator.
