Solid start in Salmon Tournament

2018-01-13 - Coastal Graphics Ice Dogs

Ice Dogs go 2-0 on day 1.

The Ice Dogs took their grittty game to Miramichi this weekend for the annual Salmon Tournament. With a stop in Sunny Corner to begin the tournament the Ice Dogs faced Renous. Liam Brewer opened the scoring getting to a loose puck and picked up his second off a rebound. 2-0 Ice Dogs.

Renous got one back and then Greg Quigg snipped one to make it 3-1. The Ice Dogs controlled the play and Jacob Hannay added an empty netter for a 4-1 final.

Next, the Ice Dogs would face Tracadie. Unfortunately for Tracadie their keeper was not able to make the trip. Hats off to the player who strapped on the pads. This was an offensive onslaught for the start. Goals from Ryan Philipps, Greg Quigg, Jacob Hannay and Silas McGuire gave the Ice Dogs a 4-0 lead by the end of the first period.

The second period saw Carter Sturgeon score twice on one shift. Liam Brewer continued to find the twine with a nice feed from Caleb Bennett. Jackson Banks rounded out the scoring in the second with a beautiful rush. 8-0 Ice Dogs.

In the third Logan Reynolds, Jacob Hannay on a nice tip, and Brewer for his second gave the Ice Dogs a 11-0 victory. This afternoon they will be back in action to face Riverview at 4 pm.
