It takes a team to win.

The FYHA PeeWee Ice Dogs started the Christmas break off by showing great leadership, caring and compassion. Only this was not on the ice and they were not talking about a hockey game - it was an evening of coming together and combining forces to give back to those less fortunate in the Fredericton area. This group ran a 'donate to the homeless shelter' campaign that reached into not just their families and friends but into the entire community.

As the coaching and management brought the team together to reflect on the season and plan a strategy for the second half - serious hockey talks eventually gave way to pizza and a special team building event to kick off the Holiday season.

The result was more than amazing - donations that had poured in were collected and organized, allowing this impressive group of hockey players, coaches and parents to provide over 40 fully packed backpacks to the Homeless Shelter. Winter Hats, Mittens, Scarves, Socks, Blankets, Toothbrushes and even snacks were assembled by the team and group of volunteers over an evening of team bonding and reflection.

The evening wrapped up with the team and several parents delivering all of the backpacks to the homeless shelter to ensure the packages found the proper destination. Many thanks to the players, parents, coaches and volunteers and those who donated to help make this event possible.
