Kent Kanucks bring home the Silver Medal from the Keith Wright Memorial Tournament in Woodstock NB January 19-22, 2017

The Kanucks attended their 4th tournament of the season in Woodstock NB for the Keith Wright Memorial Tournament and put together a great overall team effort to come away with 2nd Place and the Silver Medal for Atom A Competitive division.

Friday morning featured the Kanucks and Woodstock Slammers facing off for a well spirited game.  Caleb Arsenault in net..  The Kanucks ended the 1st period with a 1-0 lead but the Slammers came back to finish the game 2-1.  Aresenault was putting a stop to most of the shots but there were many shots due to plenty of penalty minutes on the Kanucks side.

Friday afternoon, the Kanucks faced the Kennebecasis Hawks.  Nik Hawley was in net for the Kanucks.  The Kanucks came out ready to play and wanting to win.  Nik was on fire, and mananged to only let 1 goal in which was due to a scramble in front of the net that the Kanucks couldn’t get out.  Kanucks played hard and finished 5-1.

Saturday afternoon, the Kanucks skated to a commanding and huge lead with a 10-1 win over the Charlotte County Whalers.  Nik Hawley was in net again due to an injury that Caleb Aresnault was resting.  Smith from the Charlotte County Whalers rushed the puck and managed to get one past Hawley but Hawley was on fire stopping all the rest of the shots.

Sunday morning was the 4th game of the tournament.  The Kanucks faced their home team competitors the DQ Blizzards. The game was back and forth throughout all 3 periods but the Kanucks mananged to pull out the win with a 2-1 final.  Hawley was in net for the Kanucks.

Sunday afternoon was the Gold Medal Game where the Kanucks would again face the Woodstock Slammers.  Arsenault was ready to get back in the net after resting his injury for a couple of games.  Kanucks were playing hard and getting plenty of shots but the Slammers goalie was not letting them past.  The 2nd and 3rd period the Slammers took the lead and were really applying pressure to the Kanucks with a 6-1 final.  The Kanucks WON SILVER !!

The Kanucks had a great tournament and played hard as a team.
