Gold Medal Winners

Kent Kanucks bringing home the Gold Medal from the 45th Ted McKnight Tournament in Sussex NB.

 
The Kanucks attended their 3rd tournament of the season in Sussex NB for the 45th Ted McKight memorial and put together a great overall team effort to come away with 1st Place and the Gold for Atom A Competitive division.

Friday morning featured the Kanucks and Kent-Sud facing off for a well spirited game- great positioning and puck movement gave the Kanucks a well played 5-1 victory.

Friday afternoon, the Kanucks and Hampton played to a 1-1 tie in at the end of the first period, before the Kanucks broke open the game and finised with a 6-2 victory. 

Saturday morning, the Kanucks skated to a commanding and huge shutout 9-0 win over the host team Sussex - leaving the Kanucks with the best undefeated and overal goals for and goals against avg for a bye into the champsionship match Sunday at noon.

The Sunday final saw a great match with the Kanucks facing off against the DQ Biizzards - the team trailed the Blizzards 0-1 after the 1st period, and were down
0-2 after the 2nd period.  Entering the 3rd period, the Kanucks battled back with a 2-2 tie to finish in regulation and push the game into overtime.  After 5 mins of sudden death, the game remained tied 2-2 - leading to a shootout won by Kanucks who nailed 2 of thier 3 shots versus DQ who only found a single 1 of 3 goals - Giving the Kanucks the Championship and Gold!.

Throughout the 3 days of the tournament, these Kanucks showed some of the most outstanding goaltending, positioning and passing plays - which included each and every player contributing in the entire success the Kanucks found this weekend - great demonstration of teamwork and working hard.
