Lions back off Christmas break take 3 of possible 4 points

Lions Travel to Carleton

The Lions travelled to the French Fry Capital of the World to take on the Carleton Wicked Good in the first league game since the Christmas break.  The Lions’ parents didn’t have to worry about taking a seat as the Lions scored early and often.   It felt like when Mom takes me to church on a Sunday morning, up down, up down…” said Lions superfan Jenna Earle dabbing after each of the Lions’ goals.  The Lions definitely had an appetite for goals as they potted a season high 10!  Colin MacKinnon opened the scoring followed by two by Stiles.  Malloy potted one, then Stiles completed his hat trick getting his third of the night.  Sharpshooter Chiasson sniped one through the five hole.  Shaddick got in on the action sniping one, followed by Malloy with his second of the night.  Aiden Liddle, retuning to his mother and father's stomping grounds, buried one of his own and Nate Small completed the scoring; his bringing the total into double digits.  Although the Lions’ scoring power was firing on all cylinders, Andrew Couturier had to be sharp to earn the shut-out as the Wicked Good did not go easy into the night.

Lions battle to a 2-2 tie with the Kanucks

Coming off the trouncing of the Carleton Wicked Good, the Lions faced the Kanucks in the third game in four nights.  The teams battled back and forth as Ben Brewer and Nikhil Hawley faced off in the nets.  A nice three way passing play was what it took to get one by Ben Brewer as the Kanucks scored first.  The Lions line of big winger Aiden Liddle, power forward Eric Montague and playmaker Jared Chiasson were wreaking havoc for the Kanucks.  Chiasson streaked away on a breakaway, just missing on the deke, but Eric Montague ate up the rebound and pounded it home to tie things at 1-1.  A Kanuck got left behind the Lions D on a missed clearing attempt, and was able to steal the puck before Big Ben could cover up for a whistle.  From that point on the teams battled back and forth with both goaltenders coming up huge when needed.  Brewer stopped a point blank shot to keep the Lions’ comeback hopes alive.  Shortly thereafter Malloy was robbed by Hawley as he found himself all alone in front of the Kanucks net courtesy of a beautiful feed from Jared Chiasson.   The Lions defence led by Jacob Earle kept the Kanucks outside and limited chances in the house!  Mason Porter stopped multiple one on ones keeping the Kanucks turning back time and time again. Reynolds, Freeman, Henderson, and Hunter all played strong frustrating the Kanucks offence and helping Big Ben hold the fort down.  Time was ticking away and the Lions pulled the goalie with 45 seconds left in the game and a face off deep in the Kanucks zone.  Malloy took the draw while Sheppard, MacKinnon and Stiles were set up in front of the net.  Malloy won the draw to the front of the net where sticks were crashing and it ended up on the lethal twig of #14 Morgan Stiles.  Stiles banged it home to tie it at 2!!!!   The Liddle/Montague/Chiasson line pressed for the final 30 seconds trying to get the game winner but time expired and the teams settled for a 2-2 tie!
