Andrew Bartlett Memorial tournament Champs!

The Penguins had a very successful showing at the Andrew Bartlett Memorial tournament in St. Andrews over the weekend to take the title.

Game summaries as follows:

Game 1 vs. Grand Manan.  This game set the tone for the rest of the weekend as the Penguins handled the much larger and previously undefeated Islanders 7-4.  Player of the game goalie Owen Carr

Game 2 vs. St. Stephen 1.  No fatigue here in the 2nd game of day 1 as the Penguins came away with an 11-0 win.  Player of the game was Travis Steeves with 5 goals and his typically dominant defensive play.  Special mentions to Mark Brooks IV for the shutout, and Aiden Price with his first hat trick.  Great work Travis, Aiden and Brooksie!

Game 3 vs. St. Stephen 2.  Another great performance to book our ticket to the final with a 6-0 win.  Player of the game Ben Kennedy had 2 goals but it was his effort back checking that gave him the honour.  Owen and MB IV shared the shutout.

Championship game vs. KV Bruins.  As expected, the toughest game of the weekend.  The Penguins bent but did not break when it was all said and done with a 6-5 win.   Player of the game Grant Pilgrim ended a mini-slump with 4 goals.  “Captain Clutch” Steeves broke the 5-5 tie with a beauty in the final minute.

A few additional special mentions for the weekend.  Our defensemen were rock solid as a unit, and often made life easy for our goalies.  Great work Blaze, Henri, Corbin and “double jeopardy” Jackson and Jaxon.  Keep it up!  Evan McNiel (now known as Mr. Utility) played every position but goalie over the weekend, and happily accepted each ask.  Thanks Evan!  Finally, thanks to the parents for cheering the boys on all weekend.  You know you are making noise when you drown out the home crowd in Charlotte County!
