Capitals rake Leafs.

2016-12-04 - Coast Tire Capitals

Ian Crawford and the Capitals hold the Leafs to one.

The Capitals played another strong game Sunday night against the Leafs.  Alex Grant opened the scoring with a nice set up from Mitchell MacDonald, followed about a minute later by Jes Beckwith who's speed allowed him to take advantage of a mishandled puck in front of the Leafs net.  Then, with half a minute remaining in the first period, Spencer Briggs put on another show of speed, flying up the left wing, and then feathered a perfect pass across for Jonathan Fidler to tap in past a sprawling Leaf goalie.

During the second period, Cameron Stewart extended the lead with an unassisted goal, and then by setting up Jansen Watston, who made no mistake burying the puck and putting the Caps up 5 nothing.

The Capitals scored two more in the third; another unassisted by Cameron Stewart and then Brendan Murphy set Jacob Savoie up to put the final nail in the Leafs' coffin.

But, despite the score, it wasn't all Caps all night; the Leafs put on some good pressure.  Ian Crawford stopped 31 of 32 shots to make the final score 7-1 for the Caps.
