Hard fought victory over Kings

2016-11-21 - Coast Tire Capitals

The Caps stand their ground vs the Kings

Brendan Murphy was back in the lineup on Monday night, and he made his presence felt in the first minute of play, scoring unassisted and giving the Capitals the lead.  But the Kings came back, outshooting the Caps badly in the first period and taking a 3-1 lead, before Cameron Stewart scored what would be the first of three for the night.

Jes Beckwith tied the game early in the second with a beautiful shot off a pass from Alex Grant.  Jes had a great game, not only on the scoring, but making some really great plays, including stick-checking the Kings and preventing them from retrieving a loose puck from across the blue line, while he and his team were off-side.

Spencer Biggs fed Cameron Stewart for his second of the night - a sniper-like shot over the shoulder of the Kings' net minder into the upper right corner - and Cameron made it a hat trick in the third with some great moves that left the Kings D-men wondering what had just happened.  Alex Grant scored an insurance goal in the middle of the third period, which turned out to be the game-winner, as the Kings brought it back to within one with seven seconds left on the clock.
