Capitals dominate Sabres

2016-11-17 - Coast Tire Capitals

Ian Crawford and the Capitals stymie the Sabres

The Capitals dominated the Sabres from the opening face off, and despite some sloppy play late in the game, chalked up an easy victory on Thursday night.

The Capitals started out strong against the Sabres on Thursday night, outshooting their opponents 18:7 in the first period, and continued to dominate the entire game.  Heroic shot-blocking by Noah Clements and Jansen Watson, combined with good defensive play in general kept the Caps goaltender from having to make difficult saves for the first half of the game.  However, their big lead on the scoreboard led to some sloppy play in the second half, allowing the Sabres to get a lot of shots on goal, but the Capitals' lead was enormous, so the game was never within reach for the Sabres.
