Hard fought game against Kanuks

The Capitals faced the Kent Kanuks for the first time this season on Monday night for what transpired to be an exciting game that was close throughout.  The Kanuks drew first blood early in the first period, but the Caps fought back with a lovely goal by Brendon Murphy off a deft pass from Jed Vienneau.  Great defensive work by Spencer Briggs broke up a clear breakaway near the end of the first, combined with a power play goal by Brendon Murphy, kept the game within one.  Good penalty killing kept the Caps alive in the second frame, highlighted by excellent defensive coverage by Jonathan Fiddler and Jacob Savoie.  The Caps traded goals with the Kanuks in the third, with markers from Alex Grant and Brady Manderville, making for a very entertaining game to watch.
