Dear Membership,
For the upcoming 2016-17 hockey season, FYHA is looking to host 2 Juvenile (Minor Junior) Teams as part of a 4 team league in conjunction with Keswick and Oromocto. The program will be offered to those players aged 18-20 as of December 31, 2016.
This league would be recreationally based and ran similar to our summer hockey program with efforts being placed on providing a safe and fun environment for these young adults to continue playing our great game.
This would be a non-checking league and all suspensions would follow the HNB Minimum Standards of Discipline.
There would be a zero tolerance policy for fighting – a player would receive a 6 game suspension for their first offense and an indefinite suspension for the remainder of the season with no refund if a second offense occurred.
We ask that all players participate in full gear (full cage and neck guard) and each team would be required to have minimum 2 bench staff per game. There would be no practices and players would play 2 games per week, 1 home and 1 away.
Aside from playing Intermural or Junior B/C there are not many hockey programs offered in this area specifically for this age group. I truly believe this is a much needed “grow the game” initiative spearheaded by FYHA and District 3 that would help keep young people playing the great game of hockey.
We are currently trying to gauge interest in the program. Please contact the FYHA office 451-1333 or
ed@fyha.ca if you are interested.
Yours in hockey,
