After a full season of crawling out of bed to get the boys to 6:00 AM practices, the Parents were more than prepared to take on the Wildcats in the annual Players vs. Parents Challenge Cup.

After an intense series of gruelling tryouts, the Team Wildcats Parents AAA Selects roster was set and began conducting secret additional 6:00 AM practices at various rinks across the city and outside, throughout the year.  As game day approached, the Parents team noticed that some of these boys had grown so management decided that some finesse players like Rusk would be left watching upstairs in the press box so the added toughness of career 4th line role players Malloy, Hill, and Hickey could be brought in to the lineup to straighten things out on the ice should the Wildcats players try to make the game physical.  With a solid strategy of dump and change, combined with giving it 110%, the Parents were certain to run away with this one.  With a Parent victory virtually guaranteed, the Parents practices focused on working on their new celly moves and the filming of sports drink commercials.

However, while the Parents loaded up on toughness, the Wildcats unfortunately brought their speed game and skated circles around the parents.  Meanwhile, the officials, specifically Referee Brewer would not let the Parents play their game.  Entirely reliant on Wildcats siblings for scoring, the parents were lit up time and time again by the high flying Wildcats whenever the younger siblings were not on the ice to shadow top Wildcat players.  A mid-game trade sending Flynn from the Parents team over to the Wildcats in exchange for future considerations only made things worse for the rebuilding Parents franchise.  With the crowd getting on the parents team, and shouts of "Get a change!" and "Move the puck!" coming from the stands, and the Wildcats offense surging, the Parents knew it was gut-check time.  Following a couple quick bouts to get their team back in the game, the Parents ignored the Respect in Sport online modules, shortened the bench to double-shift top line siblings, and set out towards a monumental comeback effort.

Somehow, improbably, the Parents clawed their way back into the game to tie it up and the game was finally decided by shoot-out, of which the only real winner was the goalie, leaving the final score tied.  You had to be there folks.
