As we get closer to the end of registration we are aiming to start the season the third week of October. Offical dates and times will be posted at a later date.

As we all know and for those who are new to the leauge, November can be a tough month to aquire ice time in the city with 3-4 major tournaments and special events that all share the city rinks. As the season kicks off in October please expect a small decrese in ice time through out the month of Novemeber. All leagues U7 -U18 are affected by this and we all do our best to aquire extra avaible ice time and dispers it evenly. Some teams/division may be asked to travel out of the city for any avilable ice time durng this period.

What to expect: For the first two months in U7 the players will be placed into multiple groups with 8-10 coaches and on-ice helpers. During this time the players will start with the basic fundementals of skating without pucks. It is important for our kids to understand the basics of skating before we incorporate pucks into the drills. Dont worry the kids will get to play around with the pucks as well but it is very importan as I stated to learn to skate first. I know some kids will be in their second or third year of hockey at his age level but as in all division levels there will be many kids that this will be there first year. Especially U7 we must make sure every kid get the proper teaching and time at this level to learn the correct fundamentals of skating.

Players must have their own jersey and socks for the first two months before teams are made.

In mid december the groups will then be divided into evenly matched teams.  Teams jerseys and socks will be distributed. Games will then begin. From this time on you will expect to have one game and one practice per week. If we can aquire extra ice time we will.

Game Format
-Games will be in a half ice format with a teir 1 side and a teir 2 side.
-Typically 4v4 with no goalies, depending on player attendance
-No scores are kept and no rules are followed. No officials.
-90 second sifts
-Coaches and on ice helpers are not to involve themselves in the game play at anytime unless to retrive a puck out of play or to intervien when saftey for another player becomes a concern.
-Two coaches on the bench and one to two coaches on the ice are permitted.

End of Year Jamboree
Typically we end the season in mid march with a U7 Hockey Jamboree.  A Pizza party and lots of hockey games. In order for this Jamboree to run smoothly for the kids we will need many volunteers (parents) to help out. Please keep this in mind as we will send out a volunteer request near the end of the year via email.

Special Request
Any team/friend request or coach request will be made to the best of my ability. I know first hand how important it is at this age level to have the kids feel comfortable on the ice with atlease one friendly face that they recongnize. Any parents that may wish to help out on the ice are encoraged to, the more help on the ice at this age level the better. Please fill out the coaches/volunteers form if you wish to volunteer. http://fyha.goalline.ca/news.php?news_id=1801866

Any further questions and special request, please feel free to reach out to the below email.

Let's have a great season!
