Former FYHA player makes NHL debut!

2012-05-01

FYHA extends congratulations!

FYHA would like to extend their congratulations to Fredericton native and former FYHA player, Jake Allen, who made his NHL debut with the St. Louis Blues on April 30, 2012.

Allen was called upon to briefly relieve starting goalie, Brian Elliott, late in the game during the Blues second round playoff game against the Los Angeles Kings. The Blues are currently battling the Kings in the Western Conference semi-final.

Jake has enjoyed a very successful career as a goaltender thus far.
He spent three seasons in the QMJHL with the St. John's Fog Devils, Montreal Juniors, and the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
In 2007-08 he represented Team Canada at the Under-18 World Championship tournament.
Jake continued his QMJHL career with the Montreal Juniors in 2009-10. His stellar play that season saw him win the CHL's Goaltender of the Year award. He also backstopped Canada's Under-20 World Juniors team to a silver medal.

Allen entered his first season as a professional with St Louis' AHL affiliate Peoria Rivermen. In his rookie season, he was named to the AHL All-Star Game!
Jake is still a member of the Rivermen today.

Fredericton Youth Hockey Association is proud of Jake's accomplishments, and we wish him the best of luck in the future!
