Hard work pays off for DQ Blizzards

2017-01-10 - DQ Blizzards

DQ stunned the Kanucks in a 6-2 victory.

York Arena, Jan 7: Saturday night is alright for fighting and the Blizzards got a little action in!  Kanucks battles to remain in second place, while DQ strives to crack the Top 4 in the run for the Atom AA playoffs.

DQ is fighting their way to top of the leaderboard - one game at time, one goal at time - unless you are #23 Tyler MacDonald, then only a natural hat trick will do!  Within ten minutes during the first period, Tyler scored three goals assisted by Cooper Betts, Ryan Cook, Dylan Wood, and Nicholas Arsenault.  Tynan Lawrence popped in an unassisted goal to end the first period.  Evan Phillips, assisted by Ryan Cook, and Zach Ruston each scored in the second.

The first period was dominated by DQ Blizzards, but the Kanucks continued to battle and apply pressure in the second and third periods.  Although the Kanucks ultimately outshot the Blizzards, DQ held the lead with timely saves by Wil Sibbald and hard work by the DQ defense dream team (Anderson Burns, Nicholas Robichaud, Cooper Stanley, Ava Allaby, and Cooper Betts).

Congrats Hardest Worker of the Game, Tyler MacDonald, on his natural hat trick!

The DQ win moved Kanucks into third place behind rivals FYHA Lions, and propelled the Blizzards two points closer to the coveted 4th  place held by the Wildcats.  (Perhaps we will get cards from the Lions afterall.)
